Also this year, the students from the Master of Architecture and Landscape Architecture of the School of Architecture and Built Environment of the University of Adelaide returned to Port Augusta for an intensive on site urban design studio, between the 18th and 22nd of September.
The purpose of this year studio is to reclaim space that is currently underused and to highlight the beauty of the historical centre. At the same time the project is aimed at engaging the community to share ideas on the future of Port Augusta.

On Monday the 18th of September at the Institute Theatre in Commercial rd., the students presented and displayed their projects for a spatial installation in the CBD to a public audience, including the Vice-Mayor, the CEO and the city planners of the Port Augusta city council.
The audience and jury voted for the best projects and chosen the proposal to be realized: “City in the mirror”, the concept resulted from a combination of winning ideas, will be realized by the UELab’s students in just three days, and launched in a public event on Friday the 22nd of September.

From Tuesday the 19th to Friday the 22nd of September the students have worked to design and build the winning concept: a little water pond will be realized in front of the Old Court House and color paper boats will be sailed to communicate impressions and moods of the Port Augusta citizens.

On Friday the 22nd of September from 2 to 4 PM, the community and the local schools have participated to the launch of the project in front of the Old Court House on Commercial Rd.
The objective of the ephemeral installation was to reclaim for few hours the underused space in front of the Old Court House and to highlight the potentiality and beauty of the historical centre open spaces.
At the same time the project was aimed at engaging the community to share their ideas on the future of Port Augusta.
