CLIMATE SENSITIVE URBAN DESIGN - GREENING THE CITY

The project explores the concept of Climate Sensitive Urban Design (CSUD) with a specific focus on greening the city.The presentation was divided into three sections. First, an overview of the issues and problems in relation to the changing climate was highlighted. Secondly, CSUD was introduced focussing on the concept of greening solutions. The presenter also explained advantages of CSUD i.e. improve urban microclimates; hence reduce urban heat island, and the steps for design solutions at different scale. In addition, for further references, the presenter pointed out some related technical guidance, publications and research. The third part was the details on the project- green façade design development. This includes some brief explanation on the site analysis, which among them area selection of plants/trees and support structures for the green walls. The detail of the cost of implementation was also explained.
